A siesta daily could increase the risk of death in an older woman, suggests a new study.
In contradiction with numerous previous studies, which have found effects health benefits in the siesta, researchers at the California Pacific Medical Center, found that white women of advanced age, who took a nap a day took 44 percent more likely to die by any cause, the 58 percent was more likely to die of heart problems.
The results were obtained on the basis of studies in seven years on more than 8000 white women and 69 years old or more, also met even if women were relatively healthy.
However, a bit of siesta seemed fine in participants that the taking of less than three hours a week, as it did not show a greater likelihood of death, according to researchers.
The study was published in line in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, also found that these older women had a greater risk of death if they had between nine and 10 hours of sleep each day in comparison with those who slept between eight and nine hours.
However, the researchers said that people should not link to the siesta with poor health, only recommend that older people jump the siesta.
