Almost 40 percent of all breast cancer cases in the United States could be prevented if women have a healthy weight, drink less alcohol, more exercise and would give the nurse their babies, according to a report.

The report examined 81 new studies on the links between lifestyle and cancer, showing that 70,000 breast cancer cases could be prevented each year in the U.S.

“We are now more convinced than ever of the importance of maintaining a healthy weight, physical activity and limiting the amount of alcohol in women who drink, the possibility to reduce their risk of breast cancer” said Dr. Martin Wiseman, the American Institute for Cancer Research who led the study.

“We estimate that nearly 40 percent of breast cancers in the United States or about 70,000 cases each year could be prevented by making these changes directly on the daily living habits,” said Susan AICR of Higginbotham.

The report recommends that people do exercises for at least 30 minutes each day and men should limit alcohol to two drinks per day and women should be only one.

Many studies have shown a low fat diet, exercising regularly, maintaining a healthy weight and provide breastfeeding infants, can prevent breast cancer, however, a significant percentage of cases are caused by genes and are not bound lifestyle.
