One of the most common causes of chronic nasal congestion in children is caused by allergies. One of the possible ways to treat this disease is through a treatment called allergen immunotherapy, which are allergy shots that may help the child achieve significant improvement in their disease.

An allergy occurs when the body’s immune system produces a reaction that is overreacting to a substance that is harmless.

Usually what causes allergies are pollen, dust mites, mold, pets, insects such as bees or wasps and some foods.

In the body produces a chemical reaction that releases one of them is histamine, this reaction may be accompanied by congestion, sneezing, itching and in some cases an asthma episode. The best way to control allergies is to discover the substance that produces, through a treatment that will help prevent symptoms.

One way to get to the causes of allergy is to test the child’s reaction to specific allergens through a series of skin tests or blood. Once the results are obtained the specialist will recommend the appropriate treatment, carrying out a control within the environment in which the child moves, but if that fails the allergy shots are the next step.

These vaccines are collaborating to enable the body to build immunity to specific allergens and contain a modified form of affecting the child, usually applied for a period of 5 years and the dose is being increased gradually, until it reaches dose maintenance to be given for 3 years. When it comes to an effective dose is the frequency spacing is what is called maintenance.

Allergy shots are an effective method to reduce the sensitivity of children to the factors that produce allergic reactions and are very safe.

The positive attitude of parents will be of great help for the child, who more readily accepts the treatment.
