Apparently even this to be unpleasant women outnumbers men: the palm of our hand 150 types of bacteria lives, but if you’re a woman lives longer.
According to a publication of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, women have greater diversity of microbes in their hands than men. Using a technique of gene sequencing at the University of Colorado studied the hands of 51 volunteers.
They were able to detect bacteria and more than 4,700 of this huge number only five were shared among participants.
They suggested the degree of acidity of the skin is a determining factor for the survival of bacteria. Men have a skin more acidic and therefore it is more difficult for bacteria to survive in that environment.
One thing that surprised by this study was that regular hand washing has no impact on the diversity of microbes that we have in our hands. After washing some groups of bacteria decreased, but not others.
On the other hand also confirmed that hand washing with antibacterial soaps is the most effective way to minimize the risk of disease, because such attacks soaps more harmful microbes.
So now you know: that your soap is antibacterial and if you’re a woman with more reason.
